The ABC’s of Passing Games
Passing games are great fun for all ages and reinforce many musical
concepts and skills. This session will feature tried and true songs and games
that are A bunch of fun; work on Beat competency; Concepts both rhythmic
and melodic; and provide teaching Strategies to use in the elementary
general music classroom.
Karla Cherwinski has been an elementary general music educators for 24 years.
Currently she teaches at Indian Trail Elementary in Canal Winchester, Ohio where she
works with 1st and 2nd graders. She has music education degrees from Capital University,
the Kodály Institute at Capital and The Ohio State University. During the summer, Karla
teaches Level III Kodály Methodology and Materials through the master’s program at
the Kodály Institute at Capital University in Columbus, Ohio and has taught Levels at
Colorado State University and Morehead State. Karla is also co-president of the Canal
Winchester Educators Association and serves on her building leadership team. Karla has
presented sessions on various topics around the country including at multiple OAKE
National Conferences, the New Jersey Music Educators Conference (NJMEA), the New
York State School Music Association (NYSSMA), MidWest Kodály Music Educator’s
Conferences and most recently at the 2017 International Kodály Symposium in Alberta,
Canada. Karla is the proud mom of 2 amazing children, Nick and Stella and wife to Jim.
She enjoys supporting her two high school sousaphone players at all of their marching
band events throughout the fall.
This workshop will take place on Saturday, November 11 at Christ the King School from 9:00-12:00. The cost for the event is $25. College students attend FREE! Three hours of PD will be awarded by KAKE for this workshop. Pay at the door or submit payments to payable to
